tarjetero

Spanish to English Bus/Financial Computers: Hardware multifunctional copiers
I think this is some type of card reader or driver?
Se incorporarán el tarjetero (aunque de momento no funcione), ya que al ser un componente que requiere abrir el equipo para su instalación es recomendable realizar este proceso en fábrica

Elizabeth Archer (asker) Aug 7, 2009:
The machines appear to be networked document management systems includuing multifunctional copiers, faxes, printers, scanners, etc.
neilmac Aug 7, 2009:
What exactly is the machine you are describing and its purpose? Words in "-ero" can be quite informal and vague...
Elizabeth Archer (asker) Aug 7, 2009:
Having gone further in the translation, there is an internal "rolodex" for forwarding documents. Could that help?
Elizabeth Archer (asker) Aug 6, 2009:
It could be a card reader. Although perhaps copiers, faxes, scanners etc would have card holders too?

card slot

... "card reader" is usually "lector de tarjeta" but "tarjetero" is a bit of a "comodín" and can mean "reader/holder/slot/unit/device" ... etc...

The "aunque de momento no funcione" means that the slot is empty, non-functional; the user will have to install the device (reader, etc) before it will work.

Since a Rolodex is "a rotating file device used to store business contact information" I assume this is simply the slot that the cards will be inserted into and not the actual device itself ... similar to the slots on a PC where USB ports and other types of devices can be added to the computer.

Card Holder

Years of language translation in Cuba made me use it over and over again, especially when I worked for the Canadian branch of PricewaterHouseCoopers in the late 1990's
Example sentence:

I have to include this card in this card holder os that I won't lose it.

Tengo que poner esta tarjeta en este tarjetero para que no se me pierda
