French term

modalités d’application de la T.V.A

French to English Bus/Financial Business/Commerce (general)
Hi

I am not sure what this means in the following context:

"Le soumissionnaire précise si les prix remis sont soumis à l’application de la T.V.A belge : oui/non. Dans la négative, il précise les modalités d’application de la T.V.A applicable aux prix soumissionnés."

Thanks for your help

how the VAT is applied

I usually use "how" for modalités
Peer comment(s):

agree Rob Grayson : Yes, except you can skip a "the" – simply "how VAT is applied"

French term (edited): les modalités d’application de la T.V.A

the terms for applying the V.A.T.

"Le soumissionnaire précise si les prix remis sont soumis à l’application de la T.V.A belge : oui/non. Dans la négative, il précise les modalités d’application de la T.V.A applicable aux prix soumissionnés."
=
"The tenderer specifies whether the prices are subject to the application of Belgian V.A.T.: yes/no. If not, it specifies the terms for applying the V.A.T. applicable to the tendered prices."

terms and conditions for the application of the VAT

Actually I did the official translation of the Belgium and Luxembourg VAT laws into English for the EU and I remember that this is the term they use officially.

I tried to find the translation of said VAT laws on the internet to provide a reference, but they don't seem to have been posted yet. We just finished translating them in May and it takes a while.

conditions under which the VAT is applicable

French seems rather repetitive but to me, it seems unnecessary to translate the repetition of applicable

Of course, I still do not fully understand the whole context of the use of this term in Belgium.
