A man of peace
There's even a noble prize reference for that title

And it's used by many authors to describe that type of individual

Evans (X)
: I think in the context either peacemaker or man of peace would be appropriate.

peace weaver
or peace-weaver, or peace-maker...

Peace-weaver would be my personal preference - possibly coloured by a love for Anglo-Saxon poetry! - although traditionally referring to a woman...I love the image, though, and would delight in being able to slip it into a translation!

I think it would, and I have to admit to an aversion to peacemaker as it sounds too similar to pacemaker! At the end of the day it really depends on the tone you want to give your text, doesn't it? I think peace-weaver sounds a bit more 'ethnic', but as I mentioned, I have a personal bias! ;-))

Note from asker:
I think this sounds wonderful, but I forgot to say that the context is an African ethnic group. I'm not sure that it will work in this context? |
