Die Rückenlage wird also beherrscht von den tonischen Nackenreaktionen, wobei besonders der ATNR in eine dauerhafte opisthotone Drehung zwingt. Das ist dann der Fall, wenn der Hypertonus auf einer Seite stärker ausgeprägt ist. Der Kopf dreht sich dann von der mehr betroffenen Seite weg, häufig in eine fixierte ATNR - Haltung (Windschlagdeformität).
Something else that often happens to our children, and is in part related to the ATNR is that they get twisted over to one side. I.e.; with the limbs on one side in a flexed position they tend to pull or twist the child over to that side. If allowed to happen frequently this can have the child ending up in a “windswept” position-as they are twisted to that side it looks like the wind has blown them over to one side.
