: It’s not this simple. Actually “printer” can mean both 打印机 and 印刷厂/印刷商. It all depends on the context.

: I agree with the distinction you're making — that 打印 is generally home or office printing, whereas 印刷 has the feeling of larger, more commercial printing — but, as you say, this difference doesn't show itself in the English verb.
