German term

Berufungs- und Bleibezulagen

German to English Bus/Financial Education / Pedagogy Remuneration of university professors
Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone could come up with a suggestion for translating the above term.
So far I have been unable to find any convincing translation. Thanks very much.

Context: **Leistungsbezüge bei der W3-Besoldung lassen sich in drei Kategorien unterteilen:
Berufungs- und Bleibezulagen, besondere Leistungsbezüge, und Funktionsbezüge.**

Explanation: *Berufungs- und Bleibezulagen* are used by universities as a means of attracting
renowned academics or, respectively, as an incentive for them to remain at the university.

Target group: academics, senior managers, political stakeholders.

appointment and retention awards

To convey the traditional quasi-liturgical aura one would have to use words like "conferral", "bestowal", maybe "investiture". It would be half way to ordination.

agree Paul Skidmore : From my experience of British universities I would say "recruitment and retention"
