I understand the basic concept of this word, but don't know whether there's an English equivalent:

agree Colin Rowe : Indeed, [...] galleries have far more works [...] in their archives than on public display [...].//e.g. the V&A has a number of miniature portraits by my great(x5)-grandfather somewhere in its basement! I must get round to visiting some time when in UK...
