bone marrow depression/suppression (myelosupression) Explanation: Not *medullary depression* which refers to respiratory and circulatory impairment due to depression of the medulla oblongata (lower part of the brain stem). In the treatment of toxoplasmosis, all patients receiving Daraprim should be given a folate supplement to reduce the risk of *bone marrow depression*. http://www.medicines.org.uk/emcmobile/medicine/729/spc However, the concomitant use of other antifolic drugs or agents associated with *myelosuppression* including sulfonamides or trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole combinations, proguanil, zidovudine, or cytostatic agents (e.g., methotrexate), while the patient is receiving pyrimethamine, may increase the risk of *bone marrow suppression* http://www.drugcite.com/label/?q=20110426_3a8cac03-0cb6-4c70... -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2 hrs (2012-12-14 06:33:34 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Please add one 'p' to 'myelosupression' ;-) |
