Russian term or phrase: Правильная вся такая
A novel set in the 1970's in the USSR. The main character has just had an argument with her three roommates at university (the speakers), and has left the room. The three girls are discussing her character:

XXX, по привычке не оставлять ни за кем последнего слова, пробубнила:
- Правильная вся такая, аж противно...
А YYYY задумчиво протянула:
- Ну… Точно, правильная... И живёт правильно. И получается у неё всё правильно. Может, так и надо?..
ZZZZ снова горько усмехнулась:
- Правильная! Посмотрим...

Is there an English word that reflects all the usages in this paragraph? Does 'proper' work in this context or does it have a slightly different meaning? TIA!

she's so righteous
Explanation:
I think this is a good option. I would translate "правильно" as "the right way" ("She lives the right way", "She gets everything (done) the right way"). So "right" and "righteous" kind of rhyme.

"Upright" may work, too.

neutral  The Misha: And this doesn't, I am sorry to say. You miss the emotion here altogether: hatred, envy, irritation, whatever it is. Totally wrong key for an informal conversation this seems to be. Besides, right and righteous don't really rhyme. Don't kid yourself.

prig

'She is such a prig, it makes me sick'!
Knowing what the argument was about wouldn't hurt though :)

Oh, such an upstanding citizen, she, it makes want to puke

Explanation:
And feel free to add "upstanding, my butt" or something to that effect. There is also a frequently used idiom, more Catholic than the pope, but somehow, given the context, I don't think these fine young ladies would be mentioning the pope:) A more "secular" version of this is "holier than though" but you need to work it into the conversation which will definitely take you further away from the letter of your original. I usually have no problem doing that if need be (who cares what the original says, right?:)), but it's your translation, so make that decision yourself. Perhaps, "She always gives you this holier than though look/sh...t/ cr...p/attitude," depending on how neutral or vulgar you want it to sound.

Finally, yet another possibility is "straight arrow": "Oh, she is such a straight arrow, that one" -- "And she lives straight/lives the part too..."

Cheers, Sofia. I bet the weather in Australia is better than in Sweden:)

Notes to answerer
Asker: Thanks, Misha! The weather is certainly better but for how long? :) I hate the wet and windy winters in Melbourne, it always makes me want to escape to Europe. I personally think that Sweden is magnificent in all seasons.

Ms Right

Explanation:
Англичане часто используют это прозвище, причём по отношению как к женщинам, так и к мужчинам. Чем хорошо - отлично подходит как для восхищенного, так и для презрительного высказывания.

Example sentence(s):
  • Way to be Ms Right, hah! (Тоже мне Мисс Правильность!)
  • I'm searching for my Mr Right, my one and only! (Я ищу того самого, одного и единственного!)
