Ok, I'm glad I was able to help then.
Mairi-Claire Hamill (asker) Feb 17, 2019:
Thanks Davide - yes, I know it means "star-shaped" and understood the concept of the machinery as Tom explained but that didn't sound right - radial I think is ideal!
Davide Leone Feb 17, 2019:
"Stellare" means "star-shaped".
In case it doesn't refer to the engine, but to any rotating mechanism of the machine, like Tom is suggesting, I think that "radial" is still a good translation for "stellare" as it refers to the star-shaped position of any mechanical components.
Mairi-Claire Hamill (asker) Feb 17, 2019:
Sorry I missed your entry Davide - but yes! I think you could be right with "radial"
Tom in London Feb 17, 2019:
Rotating It's the rotating part of any kind of filling machine (from ice cream to cement) but I don't know what the English term is. Here are a few examples

radial

I think it refers to the position of the cylinders inside the engine
Please refer to entry no. 3
https://it.wiktionary.org/wiki/stellare

And this is the link that shows the radial engine (with it's typical star-shaped cylinders)

Rotary (noun)

This is based on my earlier comment above, and a bit more googling. I could probably google some more and get confirmation (or a better answer) but that's your job :)
