This is based on my earlier comment above, and a bit more googling. I could probably google some more and get confirmation (or a better answer) but that's your job :)
Discussion
In case it doesn't refer to the engine, but to any rotating mechanism of the machine, like Tom is suggesting, I think that "radial" is still a good translation for "stellare" as it refers to the star-shaped position of any mechanical components.
