I am translating a video about a company's business performance in 2019. The speaker mentions the company has had a mixed performance after going through a period where they have "lapped a huge year". Does it mean that the company had had tremendous growth in the year before (i.e. 2018)?

Lap

En atletismo, "Lap" es referido a correr una vuelta en la pista o track olímpico. Muchos usan ese término para toda clase de referencias de conteo. En tu caso, un año más.
En el ejemplo que ofreces, el significado es "transcurrió un año gigantesco" o "impresionante".
