social physician Explanation: Social medicine is its own field: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sozialmedizin https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_medicine --- Even though the concept of "social medicine," with which his name is so closely associated, was not Sigerist's invention, he put a very special stamp on it. Erna Lesky's book, Sozialmedizin, is useful in establishing both the historic development and Sigerist's special role in it [5]. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&c... --- *The term social physician, which is used in this paper to avoid clumsiness of expression, designates all those who have practised social medicine. From this paper https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&c... --- From the late 1950s to the 1980s, Hermann Arnold, Ritter’s most prominent follower in the FRG, was a consultant on Gypsy issues to the federal authorities and to volunteer welfare organizations. He presented himself as a social physician (Sozialmediziner) rather than a racial hygienist. https://epdf.pub/germany-and-its-gypsies-a-post-auschwitz-or... --- |

social and occupational health practitioner Explanation: Good example of such a person is Ludwig Teleky (1872-1957) which comes up from a Google search for sozialmediziner. If you search for Ludwig Teleky it says he was a "leader in social and occupational medicine." I was thinking public health physician but that is Volksgesundheit in German - https://www.linguee.com/english-german/search?source=auto&qu... Another option is to go for occupational health and safety. So you could so OHS practitioner or physician or nurse. But I prefer social and occupational because the German has sozial in it. https://ajph.aphapublications.org/doi/10.2105/AJPH.2012.300695 |

practitioner of social medicine Explanation: Compare with this: Seems like the most understandable term in English to me. The other solutions I've seen either don't fit or I wouldn't know what they meant without additional explanations. "The remedies for population health were education, employment, a functional government, and investment in agriculture. Virchow summed up famously, “Medicine is a social science and politics is nothing but medicine on a large scale.”[2] Virchow went on to become a political advocate and a crusading social reformer. His reputation as a practitioner of “social medicine” equaled that as a pathologist.[3]" http://www.mjdrdypv.org/article.asp?issn=2589-8302;year=2019... |
