I'm wondering if you can help me to translate this idiomatically into US English. It appears in a few isolated sentences in a project I am working on:
-ذهبت إلى الطبيب، ولكنه هذه المرة كان كلامه مسامير
- يا بني، لا تعتب، ولا تلوم، ولا تكن فظًا كلامك مسامير
- إن كلامك جارح كالمسامير
- لم يكن ينتقي كلماته، وكان كل كلامه مسامير.
I'm thinking to translate it as 'his/her words cut/were like a knife', but I would appreciate your thoughts.
