sorry about that - the text is talking about looking at people's brains, (its to do with neurophysiology research). In English, scanner is mainly associated with paper, this would be MRI maybe, or brain imaging...

It can't be a 'scanner' A scanner is used with paper, and this refers to أدمغة so putting someone under a scanner would be very strange, maybe brain scans
