English term

Enforcement

English to French Social Sciences Other
Bonjour,

Je ne comprends pas le mot '"enforcement" ici.
voici la phrase : Enforcement of suppliers to notify of any changes that may affect risk mitigation / Therefore, the organization must enforce forwarding relevant information provided by the suppliers.

Est-ce que cela veut dire que l'organisation doit "exiger" certaines choses de ses fournisseurs ?

Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

Non-PRO (2): GILLES MEUNIER, mchd

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Discussion

Daryo Jun 15, 2016:
STEP 1: understanding the ST
Enforcement of suppliers [BY WHOM?] to notify of any changes that may affect risk mitigation [what kind of risk?] / Therefore, the organization must enforce forwarding [TO WHOM?] relevant information provided by the suppliers.

"enforcement" if used correctly would mean some authority forcing one party to act according to some rules that may also concern a third party. You CAN'T get a reliable translation without first clarifying the ST.

obligation / appliquer l'obligation

"if used correctly" - which in this sentence is not very likely IMO
neutral papier : d'accord avec obligation mais/ faire apliquer l'obligation comme Daryo a bien remarqué

agree oliviervs : le choix du mot "enforcement" n'est en effet pas très heureux
