French term

travaux acrobatiques

French to English Tech/Engineering Construction / Civil Engineering
Referring to a company carrying out works in precarious environments such as railway tunnels in mountainous locations. "Acrobatic works" just doesn't sound right, somehow...

precarious and difficult work

Prosaic, maybe, but it does get the general idea without sounding clunky or inappropriate (like "acrobatic").

This term refers to any type of wors carried out using equipment deriving, for the most part, from mountaineering and rock climbing to reach high, difficult of access areas for construction, maintenance, cleaning etc. and which cannot or would be impossible and/or too expensive/time-consuming to reach by conventional scaffolding.

abseiling work, rope access work

From Kiwipaedia:

Cordiste Abseiler, rope access abseiler. Cf Travaux acrobatiques
Travaux acrobatiques Abseil inspection [CW]. Rope access work [Web] Cf cordiste.

This has come up here before so there must be some trace of previous discussion.

Googling "abseil inspection" should bring up lots.
