Japanese term

一にも人物、二にも人物、その首脳(トップ)となる人物如何

Japanese to English Art/Literary Idioms / Maxims / Sayings
Hi everyone. This has got me stumped. It's a quote by Zenjirou Yasuda.

I believe the overall meaning is something along the lines of it being more important to have conviction than genius or experience. Have Googled for far too long trying to find it ready or officially translated somewhere to no avail.

I'm looking for a relatively literal translation.

Humanity is everything: the success of business is depending on its leader's humanity.

This is a phrase expressed by a founder of Yasuda Financial Group, Zenjiro Yasuda.
It is described in a book titled <商売繁盛 老舗のしきたり>(published by PHP Shinsho) by Hideki Izumi as follows:

[事業の成否は、リーダーの人間性によって決する](Success or failure of business is decided by humanity of its leader).

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thank you so much. This was my first time to ask a question on Kudos and I was amazed at the quick response. I used a combination of the three answers finally, but I would never have found the reference to the book. Really appreciate your help!"

All depend on the leader's character

I would translate 人物 as character. Leader's character is of the utmost importance and everything depend on his/her character.

the success of an organization hinges solely upon its leader

You could change the leader to leaders or leadership depending on who and what this is referring to.
