Spanish term
Ministerio de Defensa - Unidad de Gestion General - Direccion Administrativa
Spanish to English

Government / Politics
In a legal document:
"Contracto celebrado entre el Ministerio de Defensa Nacional - Unidad de Gestion General - Direccion Administrativa y XXX S.A.S."
Would this be "Contract... the Ministry of Defense Administrative Directorate of the General Management Unit..."
or
"Contract... Administrative Directorate of the General Management Unit of the Ministry of Defense..."
or
"Contract Ministry of Defense General Management Unit's Administrative Directorate..."
I know that it is most common to use "Ministry of Defense" as an attributive adjective for the specific office, department, unit, etc.; what makes me doubt this is that in this case there are three levels of organization.

Ministry of Defense - General Management Unit - Administrative Office / ALT: Administrative Bureau
Otra posibilidad. 'Dirección' como ente jerárquicamente inferior a un ministerio, bien puede traducirse por 'Office' o 'Bureau' o 'Administration' pero este último no conviene para este caso concreto.

Administrative Management of the General Management Unit of the Ministry of Defense
I would either translate it as it appears or go from smaller to larger; i.e. the Administrative Management of the General Management Unit of the Ministry of Defense.
This is a literal rendering and maybe someone else will come up with a better translation of the respective places/departments.

Ministry of Defense - General Administrative Office - Main Administration
Another option and the way I have always seen this is that it is addressed in a three tiered manner, from highest to lowest rank. In this case Ministry of Defense on the first line followed by the subdivisions.

Administrative Division, General Management Directorate, Ministry of Defense
If I knew what country this is about I’d look up the organizational chart of its Ministry of Defense. And yes, there may well be a three tier system:

Using commas vice dashes and going from smaller units to larger ones the former are part of (as in “Administrative Division, General Management Directorate, Ministry of Defense”) seems to make more sense in English.

Jeffrey, yes, all the time. Especially in the military jargon: stringing those units and subunits as beads, one after the other, going from smaller ones to larger ones, separating them with commas:

Note from asker:
The document (contract) concerns the Colombian Ministry of Defense. Organizational charts don't help much with the proper format of writing a three-tier system in a legal context. |
ViBe, have you seen commas used to seperate units in an original document? Helena, I am not concerned by the correct names (translating those are no problems for me), but just with the proper format of expressing the heirarchical relationship of the three divisions/offices. |

: Yes. I only posted my answer (with a confidence of '2') to help the asker put everything in order. I don't have time right now to search for the correct names.
