Hi,
this is going to reveal what a novice I am, but please help if you've been working in this industry for years. I need your experience.
I was hired to do an editing job. I looked at the original, agreed, and she then sent me 2 files, in .sdltb and .sdlppx. I have Trados studio 2014 and have used it to translate many documents, but never to edit.

1. Should I just open the package in Trados and edit the doc, indicating "Eng" as both the source and target languages? Or what?

2. What's with the other file? Open it in multiterm?

3. She also said, "if there's no termbase attached, please attach it manually to the project." If? She doesn't know what she sent me? Does this mean she wants me to create a termbase as I edit?

Sorry to sound stupid, but these questions are so stupid that I didn't want to ask her directly! Any advice appreciated!)

You can then add the termbase (the SDLTB) to your Project and use this for term recognition as part of your work. You might have been given this to verify the use of terminology using the QA checker too.

So no different to what you have probably already done, you are just working with a Project someone else created and using a Termbase they provided just in case it wasn't already part of the Project... because it might be attached already.

Make sense?

Regards

Paul
