Source text - Arabic سقطت طليطلة التي كان يحكمها بنو ذو النون – الذين حكموها في فترة ملوك الطوائف بالأندلس مدة 78سنة – في يد ألفونسو ملك قشتالة النصراني عام 478هـ بمعاونة المعتمد ابن عباد صاحب إشبيلية ، بعد أن حكمهـا المسلمون ثلاثمائة واثنين وسبعين عاماً ، وأحدث سقوطها دوياً عنيفاً ، واشتدت وطأة النصارى على المسلمين وتوحدت جهود ألفونسو السادس ملك قشتالة الذي كان يحكم جليقية وجزءا ًمن البرتغال ، مع سانشو الأول ملك أراجون ونافارا ، والكونت برنجار ريموند حاكم برشلونة وأورجل ، وساروا بجيش مشترك وحاصروا مدناً وقلاعاً واحتلوا قرى وأحرقوا أراضي كثيرة ، وانتبه ابن عباد لخطئه بمعاونة النصارى فاجتمع مع أمراء الأندلس الآخرين في إشبيلية ثم في قرطبة واتفقوا على أن يرسلوا سفيراً إلى يوسف بن تاشفين سلطان دولة المرابطين في المغرب والجزائر وتونس وموريتانيا يلتمسون عونه وغوثه .

Source text - Arabic كلمة "العلمانية" هي ترجمة لكلمة "سيكولاريزم Secularism" الإنجليزية، وهي مشتقة من كلمة لاتينية "سيكولوم Saeculum"، وتعني العالم أو الدنيا و توضع في مقابل الكنيسة، وقد استخدم مصطلح "سيكولارSecular " لأول مرة مع توقيع صلح وستفاليا(عام 1648م)-الذي أنهى أتون الحروب الدينية المندلعة في أوربا- وبداية ظهور الدولة القومية الحديثة (أي الدولة العلمانية) مشيرًا إلى "علمنة" ممتلكات الكنيسة بمعنى نقلها إلى سلطات غير دينية أي لسلطة الدولة المدنية. وقد اتسع المجال الدلالي للكلمة على يد جون هوليوك (1817-1906م) الذي عرف العلمانية بأنها: "الإيمان بإمكانية إصلاح حال الإنسان من خلال الطرق المادية دون التصدي لقضية الإيمان سواء بالقبول أو الرفض".
