After graduating in 1996 in German Language and Literature from the University of Pisa with a dissertation on L1 retention by a group of Italian children living in Munich, I found employment in Germany in a trade Company.
In 1998 I moved to Ireland for a few months where I took an internship at the Dublin Corporation Public Libraries.
In 1999 I returned to Italy and got my certification as a tour escort.
In 2001 I qualified as a Tourist Guide for German, English and Spanish languages and worked until 2004 mainly in that field.
In the fall of 2004 I was the winner of a public competition for recruitment at the Versilia Tourist Board, where I worked until 2017, dealing among other activities with the translation of the website into the three languages I know.
In 2006 I became a sworn translator/interpreter for the Court of Lucca, although due to my other work commitments, I have done and do this activity occasionally.
In 2016 I obtained the the C1 level of the Cambridge Certificate. I had already obtained the C1 Level for the German language back in 1989 after high school graduation. For the Spanish language I have no certifications, but as a child I lived in Venezuela and attended school in spanish until the sixth grade, then I moved to Italy, but I returned often to Caracas, where my father lived. I resumed the study of Spanish at the University of Pisa where I passed two exams.
Since 2018 I have been working at a local public authority dealing with the drafting of contracts and administrative deeds. The new job brought me closer to the legal world, and so I started offering my help at real estate agencies and notarial offices in my area to do translations of real estate purchase and sale contracts with foreign clients.
In 2020 - 2021 in the midst of the pandemic, I took an online course in technical/legal translation specifically for English at SSLM in Pisa. The course gave me an insight into the use of cat tools, which are extremely useful for this profession.
I discovered the Proz platform by researching terms for my translations, then a friend told me about its professional potential.
Therefore, I am about to take my first steps as a translator on a web platform with some fear, but at the same time great curiosity and enthusiasm.
