World Interfaith Harmony Week Mutual understanding and interreligious dialogue are vital dimensions of a culture of peace. The World Interfaith Harmony Week promotes harmony between people regardless of their faith, providing a platform for all interfaith groups and other groups of goodwill to develop their relations and their mutual awareness. UN Member States are encouraged to support the spread of the message of interfaith harmony and goodwill in the world's churches, mosques, synagogues, temples and other places of worship. This Week was proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in its 2010 resolution A/RES/65/5.
International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade For over 400 years, more than 15 million men, women and children were the victims of the tragic transatlantic slave trade, one of the darkest chapters in human history. International Day of Remembrance for the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade serves as an opportunity to honour and remember those who suffered and died at the hands of the slavery system, and to raise awareness about the dangers of racism and prejudice today. This Day is commemorated through educational events paying tribute to the victims of the slave trade and to the men and women who fought against the inhumane practices of slavery. The UN General Assembly implemented this Day in its 2008 resolution A/RES/62/122.
Did you know? International Day of Peace The International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21 September. The UN General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and peoples, and invites all nations and people to honour a cessation of hostilities during the Day. At UN Headquarters, the Day is marked with a ceremony at the Peace Bell, cast from coins collected by people from 60 nations. The Bell was presented to the United Nations in 1954 by the United Nations Association of Japan.

Human rights Promoting human rights The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) is a milestone document in the history of human rights. It sets out, for the first time, fundamental human rights to be universally protected. Since its adoption in 1948, the UDHR has been translated into more than 360 languages—the most translated document in the world—and has inspired the constitutions of many newly independent States and new democracies. The UDHR, together with the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and its two Optional Protocols and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and its Optional Protocol, form the so-called International Bill of Human Rights. The United Nations has also helped to enact dozens of legally binding agreements on political, civil, economic, social and cultural rights. By investigating individual complaints, the UN human rights bodies have focused world attention on cases of torture, disappearance, arbitrary detention and other violations, and have generated international pressure on Governments to improve their human rights records.

Sites have become an integral part of our daily lives. Many of us check web sites even before getting out of bed - see, for example, how the weather will affect our choice of clothing - and then continue to access the web until the time of falling asleep at night time. In addition to checking the weather, we send e-mails, we watch tv, we search, work, play games, choose what we are going to have for dinner, dream, get directions and hundreds of other tasks, all this via a myriad of sites.
It is only when you want to create your own site that you start to think about what is involved in the process. This chapter starts the discussion covering the anatomy of a website.
1.2 The web and its browsers
While most of us use the words Internet and web interchangeably, those represent separate "places" from the cyberspace. The word Internet came up at the beginning of the 70's when different academic institutions had created a way to share resources - essentially text based - electronically.
Nearly 20 years later, Tim Berners-Lee has developed a set of technologies that connect these resources via a series of links within the documents.
It became the World Wide Web, or web.
In 1993, people from the NCSA (National Center for Supercomputing Applications) have provided a way of displaying these documents through a standard graphic interface easy to understand and even easier to use. Formally called Mosaic, this small software will be responsible for the popularization of the web and the establishment of the foundations for
web browsers as we know them.
In fact, all modern browsers contain some features - such as the famous return button - from this first browser.

“Our situation is based on solid financial principles that have been in place for a long, long time,” says Debbie Barrett, Director of Information Technology in the city of Mississauga.
“Another reason for our success is our commitment to be a leader among cities in the effective use of technology to serve the community.”
Mississauga selected R/3 to play a major role in that equation.
“R/3 enables us to manage and audit our finances to ensure that our controls are in place,” says Jeff Jackson, Director of Finance. “It provides us with much more accurate information than we ever had before to manage our budget, and to ensure that surpluses are channelled into the appropriate reserves.”

After over four years of living in the UK, I have an excellent command of English. I started professional translation on my spare time by the beginning of 2011. Quickly, this became a regular activity, and mostly a passion. With a very international background, I have developed a unique mindset, which turned out to be very effective for text interpretation.
As for my experience, I started to do some freelance job and worked on manual users, legal documents, websites and I am currently working on an 18 modules website design course, that I translate from French to English.
I use SDL Trados Studio 2014 for work.
Besides that I also co founded a French start up company where I am in charge of community management (Content writer, Achievement of a higher ranking in search engines, Advertising and communication, Translations...) among other things. But it doesn't take all my time.
