Source text - English When the language becomes extinct, a part of the cultural patrimony of humanity is lost. For linguists, this also means the loss of an opportunity for a better understanding of the manifestation of the human faculty of language. In Latin America, Colombia is among the most diverse linguistically. Sixty-five languages belonging to 18 different families are spoken.
