I grew up in Germany, so I am a bilingual speaker of Portuguese and
German. Nevertheless, I work presently more with English. Before working as a
freelance translator as a full time job, I worked for 7 years as a PM in the
medical industry. Many of the medical disposables and devices are familiar to
me and I still continue updating my knowledge in this field. Translation was my
first choice during studies, so I graduated in 1991 in German and English
Translation at FCSH Universidade Nova de Lisboa. My first job (duration of 3
years) was as a secretary in a medical devices and pharmaceuticals company,
which contributed to my expertise and interest in that area. Translation has
always been part of my duties, as a secretary and also as a product manager.
When I chose to work as a freelance translator full time, the selected fields
of expertise were, of course, the medical and pharmaceutical fields. The type

and IFU manuals for programmers and users (medical field software).
