O facto da semana (do ano, no mínimo) foi a eleição de Barack Obama para a presidência dos Estados Unidos.
A importância da eleição decorre do significado e perspectivas que ela encerra.
Significado pela questão rácica, que nunca deixou de estar presente desde a escolha interna do Partido Democrata, sobretudo. Diz-se que é o primeiro presidente negro do país, provando-se que a cor da pele importa mais a todos os não racistas do que eles admitem. Em bom rigor Obama é tão negro quanto branco – é mestiço, mas estão a apagar-lhe os genes maternos.
Percebe-se assim como esse problema continua mal resolvido entre alguns.
Não terá sido por isso, no entanto, que Obama foi eleito. Apenas uma pequena minoria terá votado nele por ter sangue negro. A maioria votou, inequivocamente, na sua mensagem, que é essencialmente de mudança.
Para se saber quão longe onde essas mudanças irão vai ser preciso esperar por um abrandamento da crise que se abateu sobre a economia (sobretudo) ocidental e, mais ainda, por um eventual segundo mandato.
Apesar das limitações que estes dois factores vão impor ao novo poder nos Estados Unidos há coisas que já mudaram – e ainda falta mais de um mês para que Obama se mude para a Casa Branca.
Em geral, o Mundo respirou de alívio.
Translation - English HISTORY
The fact of the week (and the fact of the year at least) was the election of Barack Obama as President of the United States.
The importance of his election comes from the significance and perspectives brought about by the election itself.
It is significant because the race factor has always been present, especially after the internal elections within the Democratic Party. It’s been said that he is the first black President of the country, proving that the colour of the skin is more important to all those non-racists than they actually admit. In true reality, Obama is as white as he is black - he is of mixed race, but his maternal genes are showing up.
That being so it is understandable how this problem continues not to sit easy with some people.
But that wasn’t the reason why he’s been elected. A mere minority voted for him because of his black roots. The majority voted unequivocally for his message, essentially calling for change.
To know how far these changes might go, we will need to wait for a slowing down of the crisis which has engulfed (especially) the western economy and, even more, for his eventual second term in office.
Despite the limitations which these two factors will impose on the new power in the United States, there are things which have changed already - and Obama is only one month away from moving into the White House.
In general, the world heaved a deep sigh of relief.

You should have this document when approaching the bank for a valuation. The information may also help you to identify any illegal structures.
Obtaining a bank valuation on the property is a good idea. In general, banks will loan you 70-90% of their bank valuation, but this will depend on your financial position and residency status. The banks will determine the amount they will loan you based on either the bank valuation, or the negotiated purchase price, whichever is the lower of the two. Therefore we recommend that you should only make an offer on a property after you have obtained your bank valuation.

- DDD, de nacionalidade suíça, solteira, titular do Bilhete de Identidade de Residente de Macau nº 333(3) emitido em 13-12-2001 pela Direcção dos Serviços de Identificação de Macau, e

4 - A título de sinal e de princípio de pagamento os segundos outorgantes receberam nesta data, dos primeiros outorgantes, a quantia de MOP$16.500,00 (dezasseis mil e quinhentas patacas), quantia de que conferem a competente quitação.
5 - O remanescente do preço, no valor de MOP$1.733.800,00 (um milhão setecentas e trinta e oito mil e quinhentas patacas), será pago na data da outorga da escritura de compra e venda.
6 - No omisso, este contrato reger-se-á pelas disposições legais vigentes em Macau à data da sua celebração.
7 - A resolução das dúvidas e questões decorrentes da interpretação e aplicação do presente contrato, que não puderem ser objecto de acordo entre os outorgantes, serão dirimidas, em regime de exclusividade, pelos Tribunais da Região Administrativa Especial de Macau.

Source text - English 1.1 Definitions
For the purposes of this Financial Guarantee, the following terms will have the meanings given to them below:
“Affiliate” means, any person who directly or indirectly through one or more intermediaries controls, or is controlled by, or is under common control with, the first person, where “control” means the possession, directly or indirectly, of the power to direct or cause the direction of the management or policies of a person, whether through the ownership of voting stock, by contract or otherwise.
“Auction Recovery Amounts” means, in respect of a Defaulted Obligation, the final price obtained by the auction held in accordance with the provisions of clause [x] (Auction of Claims).
“Bankruptcy” means, in respect of an obligor under a Guaranteed Obligation, that such obligor (a) is dissolved (other than pursuant to a consolidation, amalgamation or merger); (b) becomes insolvent or is unable to pay its debts or fails or admits in writing in a judicial, regulatory or administrative proceeding or filing its inability generally to pay its debts as they become due; (c) makes a general assignment, arrangement or composition with or for the benefit of its creditors; (d) institutes or has instituted against it a proceeding seeking a judgment of insolvency or bankruptcy or any other relief under any bankruptcy or insolvency law or other similar law affecting creditors' rights, or a petition is presented for its winding-up or liquidation, and, in the case of any such proceeding or petition instituted or presented against it, such proceeding or petition (i) results in a judgment of insolvency or bankruptcy or the entry of an order for relief or the making of an order for its winding-up or liquidation or (ii) is not dismissed, discharged, stayed or restrained in each case within thirty calendar days of the institution or presentation thereof; (e) has a resolution passed for its winding-up, official management or liquidation (other than pursuant to a consolidation, amalgamation or merger); (f) seeks or becomes subject to the appointment of an administrator, provisional liquidator, conservator, receiver, trustee, custodian or other similar official for it or for all or substantially all its assets; (g) has a secured party take possession of all or substantially all its assets or has a distress, execution, attachment, sequestration or other legal process levied, enforced or sued on or against all or substantially all its assets and such secured party maintains possession, or any such process is not dismissed, discharged, stayed or restrained, in each case within thirty calendar days thereafter; or (h) causes or is subject to any event with respect to it which, under the applicable laws of any jurisdiction, has an analogous effect to any of the events specified in clauses (a) to (g) (inclusive).

Для целей настоящей Финансовой Гарантии используются следующие термины и определения:
«Аффилированное лицо» — любое лицо, которое контролирует, контролируется или находится под совместным контролем первого лица, прямо или косвенно, через одного или нескольких посредников; при этом «контроль» означает обладание, прямое или косвенное, правом направлять или добиваться желаемого направления деятельности или линии поведения Лица через владение акциями, имеющими право голоса, исходя из договора, либо по какой-либо иной причине.
«Аукционные суммы возмещения» — в отношении Невыполненного Обязательства, окончательная цена, полученная в результате торгов, проводимых в соответствии с положениями статьи [x] (Аукцион Обязательств).
«Банкротство» — в отношении должника по Обеспеченному Гарантией Обязательству означает, что такой должник: (a) прекращает существовать (иным способом, нежели в результате слияния, присоединения или объединения компаний); (b) оказывается несостоятельным, или не способен погасить свой долг, или не может регулярно погашать свою задолженность по мере наступления сроков оплаты, или признает это в письменном виде в результате судебного, регулятивного или административного производства или подачи искового заявления; (c) уступает свои права и обязанности кредиторам напрямую или в их пользу, либо вступает в компромиссное или иное соглашение с кредиторами; (d) возбуждает или уже возбудил против себя разбирательство с целью добиться решения либо о несостоятельности, либо о банкротстве, либо о любом другом освобождении от ответственности согласно любому закону о банкротстве или несостоятельности, либо любому аналогичному закону, затрагивающему права кредиторов, либо имеет поданное в отношении себя исковое заявление о ликвидации или прекращении хозяйственной деятельности, и если, при наличии такого заявления или начала разбирательства, такое заявление или разбирательство: (i) послужит причиной решения о несостоятельности или о банкротстве, либо принятия решения об освобождении от ответственности, либо решения о прекращении хозяйственной деятельности или ликвидации; (ii) не будет отклонено, прекращено, приостановлено или ограничено (в каждом случае) в течение 30 (тридцати) календарных дней с момента начала разбирательства или подачи искового заявления; (e) принимает решение о прекращении своей хозяйственной деятельности, официальном менеджменте или ликвидации (иным способом, нежели в результате слияния, присоединения или объединения компаний); (f) добивается назначения или получает назначенного управляющего делами, временного управляющего, банкротного управляющего, управляющего конкурсной массой, доверительного собственника, попечителя или любое другое официальное лицо для управления всеми или значительной частью своих активов; (g) имеет залогодержателя, получившего в распоряжение все или значительную часть своих активов, или же в отношении всех или большей части его активов наложен арест, ведется исполнительное производство, принято решение об аресте, секвестре, либо на них обращено взыскание или в отношении их проводится судебное разбирательство, и такой залогодержатель продолжает распоряжаться имуществом, а любые юридические разбирательства в отношении имущества не отклонены, прекращены, приостановлены или ограничены (в каждом случае) в течение 30 (тридцати) календарных дней с момента начала разбирательства или подачи искового заявления; (h) начинает сам или подпадает под любые действия в отношении себя, которые по применимому законодательству любой юрисдикции ведут к результату, аналогичному результатам, перечисленным в пунктах от (a) до (g) включительно.
