We have created a new map-based interpreter search page. This page provides outsourcers with a means of locating interpreters by language, specialty and location. The "Interpreter World Map" has been released as a beta, and is available for testing/use at http://www.proz.com/?sp=interpreter_search Interpreters: please follow the instructions on the page to make sure you are shown!

Great job Justin! Would it be possible to have another map, or listing, just for conference interpreters? Occasionally, I have to find a conference interpreter to work with me, or as a courtesy to a client, and they're not easy to find. Just a suggestion. Thank you and keep up the good work! Sarah

Hi Justin Somehow I can't find my own "balloon" on the map of France!! and I found names in bubbles "misplaced" in the map (eg: somebody domiciled in the Paris area "ballooned" in the Nantes area!), so maybe my balloon is out there on the Riviera although I am in western France! Also (maybe my fault since my web-literacy is somewhat limited!), but I can't find an actual list of names. Sarah's suggestion is excellent, but I imagine that would require a special form for in... Sarah's suggestion is excellent, but I imagine that would require a special form for interpreters to fill out and "tick" their qualifications before you can enter that in the data base. Nonetheless, this is a really good idea. Thanks. best regards - dominique ▲ Collapse
Why is my flat not in the right place? | Sep 17, 2005 |
My balloon is in the middle of Barcelona, rather than the exact location. But other fellow "Barcelonins" have them in the right place, so it obviously should work. I've tried searching in Google maps, but I can't find the right syntax to take me to my street (if I can find what I have to type to get to the street, I can use the same in my address in my profile). My street is Passeig de Valldaura. I've tried both in Catalan and Spanish and can't get it to work. Can anyone suggest any... Country list incomplete | Sep 21, 2005 |
This is a great idea, but I can't find my own country in the country menu. And my details won't appear even though I entered my location. ALEJANDRA
Great idea. Thanks. But I can only find myself in Eng-Blr language pair, not in Eng-Rus (which provides 95% of my income, entre nous soit dit).
I shall expect loads of calls from potential clients, or even colleagues nearby looking for a good Irish cup of tea and a chat!
Mirella Palizzi Piccone (X) Italian to English + ... Great Job!!!! | Sep 27, 2005 |
Wonderful addition to Proz!!! Although like many fellow interpreters, I also seem to be correctly located in manhattan but at a wrong address. I guess that is as close as it comes. I believe it is simply calculating the latitude and longitude of New York City and not of my specific address. Thank you! Mirella

Specialization | Sep 27, 2005 |
Felicitaciones Justin! Great idea. Is it possible to add below my name my main field of expertise? Now, my Kudoz are seen and perhaps other colleagues may prefer, like me, being introduced by our field of specialization. Anyway, congratulations! Nohara - Buenos Aires, Argentina.
This is a really good idea.Congratulations. Thank you! Piotr
Missing countries | Sep 28, 2005 |
This should be a great service indeed. Unfortunately, many countries are missing from the list, as far as I can see. Mine, for instance, Curacao, Netherlands Antilles, isn't featured. Could this be fixed, please?
Edith Kelly Switzerland Local time: 09:04 Member German to English + ... Great ... but my computer gets hung up everytime I try to get to the country list | Sep 28, 2005 |

I think it is a terrific idea. Now not only you can find an interpreter close by, but also see how many "co-workers" you have in the area! The only wish is more countries to view, but I think this is next step.Other than that I am in love with this new feature!!
Ralf Lemster Germany Local time: 09:04 English to German + ... Works a charm | Sep 29, 2005 |
Just used it myself this afternoon. Nice tool! Best regards, Ralf
