不知为啥。也许是没那么多积水吧，但是也有小河沟啊！他们居委会也没除过四害啊，不知怎么就没了蚊子。
久违了小飞机的叫声。

In 1916 organized vector control was initiated in certain sections of Suffolk County. Vector control efforts were largely implemented by owners of large private estates, and at resorts. These efforts were sporadic and disjointed at best, generating little in the way of demonstrable results. During the early to mid 1920s, public demand for vector control increased. This was due to reports of effective vector control being achieved in Nassau County and in New Jersey. In 1925 the Suffolk County Citizens’ Committee on Mosquito Elimination was formed. The New York State vector control law, passed to create the Mosquito Extermination Commission for Nassau County, was amended to allow for the creation of a Suffolk County bureau to control mosquitoes. Thus the Suffolk County Mosquito Extermination Commission was created in 1934.

... That is why.
Incidentally, we never had to worry about mosquitos either when we were kids growing up on Long Island. Of course that all changed when the family moved back to China.  Thankfully, DDT was still an effective common household insecticide at that time.
To move from Long Island, NY to Beijing in the late '50s was indeed a big culture shock for us. But suffice it to say, the mosquito problem was way down on the list.

一直在數，3隻蛋孵出3隻未開眼的小鳥，真恐怕其中一隻會被犧牲掉。每天只見雀爸媽，輪番捉來蚯蚓幼蟲，不停往返喂食，3張小嘴巴，不停張開，雀爸媽如應付不來，會怎樣？

发现蚊子是可以报警的。

前天 骑着几个月没动过的小自行车出去溜达 在一条僻静的郊区公路上突然在前方滚出一个篮球 上前观望 是旁边栏杆里面一群打球的孩子们的 不知道大门在哪里 貌似很遥远 总之看不到 栏杆里面是别墅区 栏杆顶上貌似有铁丝网的 于是 我去马路对面把篮球抱来 一挥胳膊扔给他们了 然后走了 很快乐 生活总是美好的

有些业主到市场买了青蛙，放生到小区的人工湖里。
然后夏天里蛙声一片，弄得面向小湖的住户们晚上睡不着觉。
他们就去物业投诉，还成立了小分队去打捞青蛙。
