Great Link May 28, 2010

That's a great link, which I read with interest. It plays so well on the psychological aspect of translation, don't you think, inasmuch that you sometimes feel that there's a never-ending deadline that's just too far out of reach, but which can now be broken up into bit-size translation chunks. It works quite well because you simply tell yourself that you're going to get a break in 20-odd minutes and then just keep on working if you feel like it, have a break when it suits you... and then start the process all over again until you get too tired. It's purely psychological, but it's a good idea nonetheless.

Thanks.

Great pool ! May 29, 2010

I voted "Yes". Most of the time while looking for a terminology on my dictionary or over the internet, I come across many interesting terminologies which I was looking the other day, but could not find it. I try to maintain a small notepad where I copy & paste these unexpected but valuable terms or information and later on try to integrate then to my CAT TM for future use. But sometimes, due to this side tracking tendency I end up spending too much time because go away from my main target.

Yes. As a matter of fact, May 29, 2010

I was just looking for a word, the opposite of "punctual" but containing or referring to the word "punctual"... unpunctual, impunctual, non-punctual? and came across this, and of course, had to come to this thread to post it (and then add it to the list of quotations on my profile). Talk about sidetracked.

"The trouble with being punctual is that nobody's there to appreciate it." (Franklin P. Jones)

Now, what was I doing?

In my defense, I must say May 29, 2010

of course I resist the temptation if I'm working against a really tight deadline.

That really was the best tip I've had in years: I tried the Pomodoro technique last week and I'm an instant convert! My productivity has gone up by more than 30%.

But... back at it: my five-minute break is now officially over

Regards,
Marjolein
