Hi all,
Please be aware of a scam pretending to be from Proz - I got an e-mail from a certain Ixx Colexxxx at a gmail address (we are not to use names in posting about scams).
Here's the text: "Salut,
Are you available to become a virtual assistant paying three hundred euros per week? You have to be located in France. Understand English Language or French Language. Thanks"

Curious, I responded. 6 weeks later I got an e-mail saying they will send a check and I can deduct my 300€ wages from the very large check, buy things at a local tabac and send in an evaluation of the services rendered. So nothing to do with translations. There is a similar Craiglist scam - the check is a fraudulent copy from a real account (i.e. ABC company), and if you cash it ABC will be responsible for the funds. Furthermore, they ask you to send the balance in MasterCard vouchers.
All the best - Anne

Saw this, binned it Nov 27, 2017

I received this a few weeks ago now. I didn't bother replying. Not that 300€ a week dd not seem too good to be true. Just everything else about it: badly written, no real information about the tasks involved, no information about the company at all.
Stinks a mile off!
