I guess anybody working full time as a translator cannot spend less than 8 hours a day in front of a screen. I voted >10 because I also watch movies on my computer and read online newspapers.

I ticked the 6-8 box, which was really just a fence-sitting option. I don't actually sit and count the minutes while I'm working, whether it's on translation, revision or admin.
Looking at the poll question, it looks like it may have been prompted by someone worried that they might be spending too much time "in front of the PC", perhaps feeling guilty that they should be doing something more healthy or otherwise worthy. It really does depend on how busy I am as when I take a day off, then I do not even look at my mobile phone if I can avoid it.

This last week at least twelve hours, but typically I would say 6/7 hours. Like Julian, I think that the option "As long as it takes to finish the project" is missing...

My computer is also my window to the world. I read a minimum of five daily papers and magazines per day. I also want to have fun with my close friends in our small forum (no social media stuff).

I keep a careful record of my working week and I find five hours a day actually at the computer translating is enough to earn a decent living (Japanese to English pharmaceutical/scientific/medical does pay pretty well), which is fortunate, because I rapidly burn out if I need to do much more than this over a sustained period.

Normally I spend an average of a little over 10 hours in front of my computer. However, depending on the work load and other factors, this time can easily increase.

I ticked the "more than 10" option, but reading your answers above, I understand that exceeding hours before a screen even though reading or doing some other pleasant activities, can lower the production quality, undermine concentration, etc.
Unfortunately I guess that once the pattern is set it's difficult to be more flexible and arrange a daily professional life including optional activities not related to the computer.

At least 8 hours for work related tasks (translating, editing, admin, marketing, etc.), plus a few more hours for leisure activities (reading, watching movies, interacting with friends, etc.) Weekends are different, of course.

I work during school hours, and then a bit more in the evening if necessary, depending on what I have to do. I do prefer to spend my spare time away from the computer screen, though, as after several hours glued to the computer I need to stretch my legs and interact with 'real' people.

My average was higher in the past, but recently I embarked on an effort to reduce my time spent on e-mails, social media, etc., so that I'm fresher for translation and can get to bed earlier. I also do write a blog, which has been useful for promoting my book (Finding My Invincible Summer), and that takes time in front of the screen (about 8-10 hours a week).
So far, the new system is working pretty well. I'm also skipping most TV and am spending more time walking and at the gym -- ...
