经你这么一说，我才发现那确实是纽约。在进 HOLLAND TUNNEL 之前，人们必须停车付费，所以那里经常是很堵的。曼哈顿大概是美国的“首堵”，但还算不上世界的“首堵”。
中国的加油站绝大多数都属于中石化和中石油。不过，Exxon Mobile、 BP、Amoco、Total 等外国公司也已经在中国设立了一些加油站。其中有些是与中石化或中化公司合营的。北京、上海等地汽油很贵。最低档的汽油价格约为8元/升，将近5美元/加仑。我在美国还从未见过如此昂贵的汽油呢！

Come to think of it, that might not even be an image of a traffic jam. In Manhattan, you sometimes do get bumper-to-bumper traffic. It could very well just be an image of regular traffic being stopped at a series of red lights along an avenue(or street) while the traffic is flowing perpendicularly. As you and I know, in Manhattan, the traffic lights are pretty much all synchronized.

无独有偶，两年前“非你莫属”节目中(约41分钟处)一位求职者，也是北大临床医学博士。她为了能回到天津与母亲团聚，辞去了北京大学附属人民医院的工作，而接受了天津某教育培训学校月薪 5000元人民币的工作。

我上次回国时，乘高铁从北京到上海也只花了5小时。想当年我去北京上学时，乘的是上海至北京的临时学生专列。这个所谓专列遇到所有客车、货车都必须让路。往往在偏僻岔道上一停就是两三个小时。停车时列车员还将全部厕所都上了锁。那车厢本来是卧铺车厢，但尽管卧铺都空着那列车员也不让我们上去睡，因为我们穷学生买的都是半票（9元9角）。我们实在困极了，就只好轮流钻进下铺底下去睡。当时南京还没有长江大桥。一列火车12节车厢被拆成三截，花了约4小时用船摆渡到江北浦口。此专列从上海到北京走走停停，一共花了近60小时。
近几十年来，铁路建设真是日新月异。据说在镇江地区除了现有的“润扬”和“泰州”长江大桥以外，已开始兴建另一座名为“镇江长江大桥”的公铁路两用大桥。与以前相比真是不可同日而语！
