"Der neue Report unterstreicht das produkt- und anwendungstechnische Kompetenzprofil von Firma ABC GmbH."

ABC is a manufacturer of construction equipment, and the report is about one of their machines in operation.

Kompetenz is another one of my 'hate' words. Help much appreciated.

Lots of entries ... ... but most of them in an entirely different CONTEXT. I have a problem with answers that provide a mere :o) as a reference. And they are your references because you provided them.

They are not "my" references". Personally, I have a problem with people disagreeeing w/ a mere :o( ... "Competency profile", as I see it, is not incorrect. Google competency profile, lots and lots of entries. Many highly professional

It was 'never "competence"'. If you want to disagree, quote correctly. I would never use competence in such a context, it's translatorese.

I'm sorry, Sven, but I simply have to say it because it won't go away. If I had thought that a literal translation was all that was needed here, I wouldn't have posted the question at all. Doing just that - offering a literal translation without bothering to back it up by any references - isn't helpful at all. Thanks anyway.

Ich frage mich gerade, ob das "Profil" hier nicht ganz wegfallen kann (mit der Alternative "[wide] range of expertise").

Daher mein Vorschlag mit Alternative in []:

Noch ein Gedanke: Wenn Du nur "expertise" verwendest, könntest Du davor noch "extensive" oder "comprehensive" einfügen:
