Japanese term

カウントアップ

Japanese to English Tech/Engineering Engineering (general) Machining equipment
ドレッサ交換予報カウンタがカウントアップしました。

Sorry for the lack of context.

I am leaning towards "tally" as an answer but hopefully I can be swayed in a more confident direction by someone.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Sincerely
Roderick Anderson

increment

I'd say something along the lines of "The dresser replacement prediction counter was incremented" - just a suggestion off the top of my head, could probably say it better with a bit more effort.
Peer comment(s):

agree Michael Grant : I think 'increment' definitely fits here because it includes the idea of accumulation which jibes with "積算カウントアップ" in the source document..i.e. "cumulative count" or "increment"...

increased

Just by looking at this line, I think it simply means the counter value was "upped" (=increased). To use "count up" to mean to tally requires reasonably good command of English and I don't think we can assume that. Sorry for the funny logic!

(performed the) calculation/count/tally

I can't tell what type of counter the dresser in your text has from your short context, but I have a feeling that this is more about keeping track, counting, calculating, computing tallying, etc. from the websites I've found on dressing equipment than it is about increasing or incrementing.

- Some excerpts from the below website mention a “preset counter” for the dresser. I surmise that this counter does the “calculating.”
http://www.fpmiller.com/Inventory/Pages/3272.aspx
The machine offers the Automatic Compensation Functionality to maintain the part O.D. within the specific tolerance and the Automatic Dressing Functionality employing the Fanuc CNC System and the Post-Process Gage System or the Preset Counters. In the continuous automatic operation, the CNC System will regulate, or shift, the Regulating Wheel Lower Slide to compensate the grinding wheel's wear rate according to the output signal of the Post-Process Gage System or the Preset Counter, and the preset data programmed in the CNC System.

The pneumatic cylinders are used to back up and eliminate the backlash out of the slide infeed system. As an option, the dressing sequence of the grinding wheel will be carried out automatically in the Automatic Operation Mode after grinding the specified number of the parts, according to the preset value on the Dressing Interval Counter. The Rotary Dresser Slide is assigned to the Y-Axis.

- Here are more websites that show that there is a “counter” used in the dressing cycle which “keeps track of” on work being done:

Auto calculus timer or auto calculus counter to dressing compensation, we could adjust on-line and don't need to stop grinding work, and set easily.

http://www.shardamachines.com/products3.htm
The automatic cycle (Interval dressing , pre-dressing and skip dressing cycle) of the machine is as follows.
SKIP – O Cycle ( Set the counter i.e. 0004)

http://www.patentvest.com/console/reports/docs/grant/0513879...
A dress compensation counter at Block A keeps track of dress compensation against the P-axis dresser and causes a re-zero cycle when this compenstation becomes greater than an operator programmed amount, "p-axis re-zero trip". Thus, after the operator initiates the re-zero cycle, monitoring is repeated each time the trip threshold is exceeded.
Returning to FIG. 6, it can be seen that the calculated P-axis zero offset can be used to recalibrate the dresser. The dresser is then monitored by the dress compensation counter to determine when the next P-probe re-zero cycle should occur.
