: IMHO, earth/ground voltage is not technically measured, but earth resistance measured. This word should indicate the neutral line of 3-phase power cable etc.

接地する
I believe it means "to earth" or "to ground" the electricity here.

: I don't think you want to connect that 277 VAC to ground - you would be creating a short circuit.

Hey, thanks for elucidating me on this Katalin. I certainly wouldn't want tsai to get short-circuited on this one.

See: http://www.hkepc.com/forum/viewthread.php?action=printable&t... if you understand the 3-phase electric power circuit, you can describe in correct [and not misleading] JP machine specifications.

Discussion
In broader sense, secchi=3-phase electric system earthing/grounding/neutralizing [in the English term of this question], see: http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/接地; also in my English version link below [In US English, earth=: ground=: neutral line]
:)
Earth (or ground) is 接地, and neutral is 中性 or ニュートラル. I studied these properly because I am an electrical engineer myself.
