Might be more common in UK, but by no means unknown in the US. "Mommy" seems to be the gold standard. :-)

what can i say... It must be quite old fashioned and, perhaps, geographically limited. My family members (American) use it on regular basis, and it is used in movies and literature. I'll have to dig up examples. A belated Thank you!
