agree writeaway : l'embauche et l'entrée en fonction ne sont pas forcément au même moment. On peut être embauché et entrer en fonction 3 mois après.....je traduis souvent ce genre de contrat dans l'autre sens (Fr-En)

agree Tony M : Yes, we use the DUE (= 'déclaration unique d'embauche') when someone is hired, i.e. on entry. Salary notifications also say 'date d'entrée / de sortie'/ No ambiguity whatsoever: this is standard terminology for anyone who has ever hired staff!

neutral writeaway : the day one is hired is not necesarily the same day one starts the job. There can even be months in between. Afaik, benefits, pay etc only go into effect once the person actually starts the job, not from the moment they are hired.

Point taken, although the ST remains ambiguous. Entry evokes "entering into the company" (embauche). It would have been easy to use the term "on starting", or "on taking up your duties", etc. (entrée en fonction)

en contrat de travail effectif

Je préfère "en contrat effectif" car traduire "quitting" peut prêter à confusion car ce peut être "démissionner (ce qui le 1er sens) mais cela pourrait être aussi "être licencié". En regroupant "entry" et "quitting", on évite le pb..
Example sentence:

Toute personne en contrat de travail effectif, au cours d'une année civile, pourra prétendre à la prime de Noël, au prorata de son temps de présence, cette année là.

No, I don't think it does. It actually includes it because anyone actually working will be entitled to it.
