Is there a way that videos available on the Internet (e.g. on YouTube or TellyAds.com) can be captured and stored on a desktop?

You can... Jan 18, 2007

You can save YouTube videos via www.keepvid.com. I dont know abut that other site though.

You will a need a player that can play FLV files though. You'll see it just under the download drop down box.

How to... Jan 18, 2007

A method is described here.
In addition, some easier methods are mentioned in the comments below the article.

I haven't tried any of these myself.

I find http://keepvid.com really useful and to the point. Simply copy and paste the link of the video you want et voilà.

Firefox add-on Jan 18, 2007

There is an excellent extention for Firefox,
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/2584/
very useful, and can be used with download managers, like downthemall.

Right Piotr,

Firefox add-ons work well. I'm using videodownloader (find at http://videodownloader.net). Works great.

I use camstasia and adobe products Jan 18, 2007

Hi! these are ideal for screen recording. Camstasia studio cannot record large objects, but adobe breeze can. But generally internet videos are not large files, so I mostly use camstasia studio, and it comes with it´s own codec. Best Brandis

Yes, you can even download the movie file even if you haven't yet viewed it in the browser. Simply paste the URL and hit ENTER, then wait for the page to begin loading, then hit the STOP button (on the browser and/or on the video display), then click the plugin's little icon to download the file.

You must also install the FLV player to view these files.
