As you may recall, a big coup for the budding pro bono project has been to attract the attention of Give Directly, a charity that's doing excellent work for and with the world's poorest.

As you may recall, a big coup for the budding pro bono project has been to attract the attention of Give Directly, a charity that's doing excellent work for and with the world's poorest.

I held an exciting meeting with their young and dynamic team in Oakland and New York City, and we agreed that, reasonably enough, they'd try us out to see whether we could actually follow through effectively and efficiently on our offer of help.

So they sent us a first "test", which was in itself quite an interesting challenge: approx 7,500 words of Google Docs and Google Slides, PLUS two films to be subtitled, into both French and Portuguese.

This was on Friday last week. By that evening I'd found volunteers from my new database, and allocated all the texts. What's more, besides the translators, we had people come forward to offer to harmonise the various texts, and even to harmonise the texts with the films.

All so that we can deliver an excellent final product and wow this client's socks off (professional expression, of course).

I'm so proud of what we're doing, and of the sterling quality of the people who've stepped forward. They're all golden.

PS This takes us to over 125,000 words translated already.
