Hi,
I am trying to decide between the Dip Trans courses offered by Cardiff University and City University, London. Does anyone have experience with either of these courses that they could comment on?
Thanks,
Michelle

Hi Michelle,

I did the Cardiff course (but it's a while ago - I took the Dip Trans in 2001) and at the time it was excellent - eight (?) marked assignments, all with really useful, very detailed feedback. It certainly gave me a sense of the standard required and was good practice for the exam.

I don't have any direct experience of the City course but people do speak highly of it - hope you get some feedback on that too.

Best wishes,
Karen

Hi Michelle, just wondered where you eventually decided to do your prep course for the dip trans. I've just signed up for one (French to English) and hope to take the exam. in Jan 2014. Would be nice to hear from you!

Hi roxyD,
I chose City University in the end, I am about half way through Module 2 (you can do them in any order). I am finding it quite helpful - the tutor gives very detailed corrections. I am as yet undecided about whether to take the exam in Jan 2014 or not... It's not clear to me how useful that qualification is in getting translating work. If anyone has comments on that it would be good to know... The UK seems to be a lot less regulated than Australia (I was working with Spanish>En

Cheers,
Michelle
