Paul, a forma de pagamento oficial da inscrição é através de cartão de crédito, é a forma mais fácil de controlar, receber, e contabilizar os pagamentos e os participantes. Qualquer outra forma de pagamento manual vai exigir uma contabilização à parte. Claro que, se a pessoa não tiver cartão ou conta bancária (o que é meio difícil hoje em dia), se não houver jeito mesmo de pagar através de cartão, a gente pode ver abrir uma exceção muito especial.

Olá, Isabel Vidigal e Rosana Malerba,
Parabéns! Acredito que este evento será, historicamente, um dos eventos mais significantes para todos os tradutores e intérpretes que usam português.
No meu caso, como sou também tradutor e intérprete de coreano e português, devo participar para aprender experiências dos outros. Mas, parece que sou o único membro da Proz que fala coreano e português no Brasil.

Parabéns! Acredito que este evento será, historicamente, um dos eventos mais significantes para todos os tradutores e intérpretes que usam português.
No meu caso, como sou também tradutor e intérprete de coreano e português, devo participar para aprender experiências dos outros. Mas, parece que sou o único membro da Proz que fala coreano e português no Brasil.
Mesmo assim, vou torcer pelo sucesso do evento e, espero que no ano que vem podemos organizar 2a conferência no dia do tradutor, 30 de setembro, data comemorativa à morte de São Jerônimo, que traduziu a Bíblia para o latim.
Agradeço pelo convite e assim que eu tiver tempo livre nestes dias vou dar um pulinho para lá!

Opa, Joom! é bom não perdermos seu contato , no caso de precisarmos de um tradutor de coreano!!
Nós fizemos a conferência em agosto para poder aproveitar as férias da Europa, pois temos dois palestrantes de lá, a Ana Iaria (brasileira, mas que mora na Inglaterra) e o Pavel (checo). Normalmente agosto é um mês mais calmo... e então temos mais probabilidade das pessoas estarem livres...

Obrigada pelo seu comentário, é bom que as pessoas façam isso para que possamos passar as informações que não constam na página, tal como o motivo de estarmos fazendo a conferência em agosto..

Oi, acho que encontrei todos os dados no site. Confesso que achei a taxa um pouco puxada, mas acho que deve valer a pena o investimento. Como sou tradutor alemão-pt, acho que, tirando as sessões voltadas à tradução jurídica inglês-pt e tvz a voltadas exclusivamente(?) para intérpretes, o programa pode me ser interessante, além do networking. Para mim, em todo caso, ainda é cedo para me inscrever, pois não posso prever como será minha agenda de trabalho definitivamente em agosto, mas ... 1. Will there be wireless Internet available during the conference?
2. Will the conference be in Portuguese or English (or another language)?
3. I noticed a couple of sessions on skills for interpreters on Friday morning, any chance there could be a similar or even parallel session for translators?

I work with quite a few translators and there's no real guidance out there on standards, what to look out for, how to develop, useful tools, how to edit your own work, what agencies want etc. so something along those lines might help translators improve and get much more work. I know for a fact that there are agencies in other countries who have a LOT of EN-PT projects and find it very hard to get good translators and there is loads of work out there for anyone willing to fit in with what they need.
Anyway, great news about the conference! I fully intend to go and hope this is the first of many. ▲ Collapse

Hello Simon, these are not difficult questions at all!
Your answers:
1) Disal doesn’t have wireless available in the auditorium ... sorry, only the speaker will have internet access.
2) As this is a Regional Conference, the lectures will be presented in Portuguese, the only exception is the one presented by Pavel Janousek.

You are absolutely right about the lack of knowledge here about agencies abroad, how to reach them and have regular jobs from them… this was what motivated us to realize this conference… because through Proz you have a real possibility of building your career in translation with clients from all over the world… I can prove it

Can you say when you will have a session programmed for translators on the issues I mentioned in the previous email? I didn't see anything in the program so far addressing that type of thing.

Well, this is the very first ProZ conference in Brazil, we got a partnership with Disal and they only have one auditorium. The advantages they offered us to realize this event there were too much interesting considering we have never done something like this before.

I totally agree with you about how important is to know the needs of major consumers of translation, here or abroad, but, for this conference, we have selected the themes based on some research we have made in the last Powwows we had….
If we had had more people there asking more information about this issue, we would have someone talking about it in this first event, be sure.
More people are sending us emails/messages asking why we don’t have speakers talking about this or that issue, but it is impossible to select all themes…. We would need much more time and auditoriums to do it…
When will we have a session discussing these issues? I don’t know… it is too early to talk about this considering we still have some months before the first ProZ conference…. We have to wait a little bit to evaluate the answer we’ll have and if there are enough people interested on it. I believe ProZ will try to satisfy the needs the majority of translators have… we only need to know what the translators want; this is, having more participants at the Powwows, for instance. Powwows present us a very good occasion to discuss and talk about what we want. I intend to organize a Powwow before the conference and I think we could prepare a list of issues to be discussed in an eventual second conference, what do you think about it?

You are right, you do need to cater to the interests of the translators and I'm sure that you will do a very good job of that. Thanks for taking the time to set up this conference, I appreciate your hard work.
Maybe we could talk about the foregoing issues during the conference, I don't want to take any attention away from people with more pressing needs for information on the event!
