Bill Bord looking for translators sounds like a Lance Cover in search for a photographer. My name is Bond, Junk Bond.

He missed the trite Dr., Prof., Attorney as part of his name, yet couldn't resist including the "Engr."

I am going to close that address anyway, secondly I always answer to scammers, just to let them know that translators are not as stupid as they think.

They never answer back, obviously

I'm not sure to what extent that advice is true any more, anyway. Back in the day, when everyone was on pay-per-minute dial-up, and even spammers and scammers could, like us, almost allocate an individual cost to every email they sent, yes, it was good (cost effective) for them to have confirmed addresses to target first. Now that fixed price broadband access is commonplace, sending out email to non-existent addresses is less of an issue in cost terms, at least.

Plus, as has been pointed out, they are quite often these days using lists of actual addresses harvested from legit websites, not randomly generated addresses. They can very well expect that, reply or no reply, the address is a valid one. I'm not saying don't be careful, but I've had the same email address for 8 years, I have replied to 1 or 2 of these and my auto-reply has replied to a hell of a lot more, and I still only get about 10 spams a day (and 2 of those are from websites I volunteered to receive info from and just haven't bothered to cancel).

Scams, scams, scams. Jul 30, 2011

I receive about 10-15 daily emails that I classify as scams - group buys, P***s enlargements, pheromona to conquer females (not needed, since I live well with my wife!), lawyer courses, pyramids, miraculous financing deals like nigerian connection from all over the world, etc.

My credo is "a good business does not came to find you, but you must go on to find it".

After I get tired deleting such emails, I found a program, called Mailwasher, from New Zealand that analyses all my accounts (paid and free ones), classifies every email as good, friend, blacklist, spam, etc., without copying such emails to my computer.

A nice feature on it is "bounce", which replies to sender all marked emails on a list with an answer containing a small text with something like "User does not exist".

So, when I start my computer every morning, I see this emails list first, and run deletions and do such bouncings.

Of course, I hope that such, let's say, "serious" spammers (if they exist!) do deletion of my email address, or, at least tell his/her vendor that I do not exist.

If thousands of ours could bounce back such spams, maybe spammers get tired of their scary job and search for another one.
