I received three "job-related" messages via ProZ.com recently. Although the email addresses, names and IP addresses (underlined) are different, the texts are nearly identical. I suspect the same spammer behind these. I have reported all three to Staff, but I thought I would also share the copies with the forum. If you receive a similar message, proceed with caution.

I recognize the wording, especially this 'project book' — I too have (in the past) received several such messages, and I think this may already have been reported somewhere in these fora.

yes, this does smell like a scam. It's very unlikely that three different people will contact you with identical requests.
Fact is, all 3 IP addresses are located in Nigeria, beginning with 41.155.

I do, however, suspect this may just be some kind of ISP, so is this knee-jerk widespread blocking running the risk of blocking wanted users too? I have experienced this problem with my ISP (Wanadoo.fr), with e-mails coming from a Wanadoo address being systematically blocked by a number of US ISPs 
I hasten to add that I don't really understand how all this IP address stuff works, and I feel sure the clever guys and gals at ProZ.com have got it all sewn up; but it would be reassuring to have this sort of geeky stuff explained for us mere mortals (well, this mere mortal, at least!)

While on the subject of IP addresses, could I make a plea to the powers-that-be to make a link to the / a 'who is' facility more prominently available on the site? I seem to remember there used to be such a link, but can't for the life of me find it now — but as this seems to be an increasing problem, I feel sure this would be a useful self-help tool in the war against scamming. Why not even include it in e-mails sent out, like the 'scam report' etc. links at the bottom of each mail: "Find out... This might well be, Tony. However, there is software with which you can hide your actual IP address. With this software your IP address can change every 2 - 10 minutes, showing you as being located in different countries across the globe. In order to detect the actual IP address, you'd have to go through the list of fake IP's, sometimes more than 4 or 4 Proxies.
