I was approached by one Kaori Kawakami, with a CV, and a claim to be providing EN>JP translation, which I needed at the moment. Her real name I now know is Riham Salama, which shows up on scammer lists when googled.
Here is some of the email header information to show how deceitful 'Kaori' was being:
Delivered-To: [email protected]

The sender is [email protected], which shows up on scammer lists when googled. The IPs are in LA.
The email address 'Kaori' used for a PayPal pre-payment request was [email protected], which turns out to be one Mariam Attar. Clearly not 'Kaori'. Rest assured that the PayPal pre-payment is under dispute, and therefore unavailable to Mariam and/or 'Kaori', and will be escalated to a claim. ▲ Collapse | | | Thanks for the heads up! | Oct 3, 2013 |

My name is Kaori Kawakami and I am very sorry to approach you on this issue. I know this is an old thread but I only recently took notice of it as I was alerted by a client about it.
As you have correctly noted, there is a scammer approaching clients using a my stolen CV with my name on it. I have been alerted many many times by clients about it and am considering taking legal action against this person, although this is very difficult considering the anonymity inherent to our field of work.
That does not mean, though, that I am not a real person as well as a qualified, well-regarded translator. Your post, as well as Mr. Joao Roque Dias' webpage, implies that the only existing Kaori Kawakami is the fraud artist. I would like to please request you to modify this post and the webpage so as to show that, although there is indeed a scammer using my name to defraud clients, there is also a serious professional who is being harmed by his/her actions. In order to make matters clear, my real e-mail address is [email protected].
I am available to provide identity confirmation about me to anyone who would require it. For obvious reasons (that is, having had my identity already falsified) I will not post private information publicly, but will be available for providing them privately upon request.
Also, I invite you to make reference to the following threads, where the matter of this identify theft case is discussed at length and my real identity was confirmed:
http://www.proz.com/forum/scams/228955-a_translator_cheating_another_translator_may_threaten_an_agency_staff_scam_by_impersonation.html#1984123
Also, you will see in this thread that this person has tried to steal the identity and impersonate other translators also named "Kaori":
http://www.proz.com/forum/scams/230462-scam_alert_freelancers_and_agencies_please_beware_of_a_scammer_impersonating_real_translators-page6.html#2132440
I just want to make clear that I am not asking you to delete this thread or stop from warning people about this scammer. Quite the contrary, it is very important to me that many people know that there is a fraudster who is using my name illegally. I just want to ask you to amend the post title and the scammer webpage to make clear that, although there is a scammer using my name, I am a real person who is the main victim in this story.
Thank you in advance for your attention to this belated reply.
