I got an email from her on Monday. I thought it was a scam because of the grammatical errors but thought perhaps her English just was not good. I wrote her back saying that I would need 50% of the payment up front on PayPal. She proceeded to send me a document in Spanish (I guess she forgot that she was originally looking for a FR > EN translation) and wrote "I'm proposing a certified bank draft, a cashier check or bank certified check".

Do you think the scammer was looking for a free translation or phishing for banking information? Or am I at any sort of risk from looking at the document they sent me? ▲ Collapse

No, they will try to get you to agree to be paid with a paper document such as a bank draft, send you too much and ask you to refund the difference.
Then a month later it will be found that the draft is a forgery, and you're out of pocket.
