I've just received this wonderful email, and decided to have my eyes checked, but before I do that let me run it by you. It says 48 cents a word, right? I'm still not drunk from the weekend?

Not sure how is this price positioned in your language pair. For mine, it looks too good to be true - and most of the time it is

Looks like I'm just sobering up now because I've just noticed that they say "with competitive pay of £0.48 per word"
Maybe they meant "£0.0048"? That should be the going rate in India...
So my eyes are okay then..

Why would they need several translators for 9,000 words with a 3-4 day delivery?
"Remote freelance" is odd verbiage, too.

I often see scams like this being flagged here, and I've never understood the reason, the purpose behind all this. Why are they doing this? Are they actually doing this to provide translation services to their end client with the intention of not paying the translator who has done the work? Is that it?
If so, forget about the "gmail" or "telegram" part (that requires vigilance, and people can be duped easily for whatever reason), any person who buys into words like "competitive rate of 48... If so, forget about the "gmail" or "telegram" part (that requires vigilance, and people can be duped easily for whatever reason), any person who buys into words like "competitive rate of 48 cents per word" or "limited spots for a 9k project" is a retard, to put it mildly, or in the words of Donald Trump "not a very smart person", and would you expect an idiot to produce a passable translation?
You need to find a halfway smart person to do the translation so that your end client will have no complaints at the end and pay you as agreed and then come back to you again for other jobs, even if you f*ck the translators by not paying them and go from translator to translator for future jobs.
In my opinion, working with retards is not a sustainable endeavor. They must be doing this for sexual pleasure alone. ▲ Collapse
