Hi there,

does anybody know where I can find information about courses for translators and interpreters in Rio de Janeiro or Salvador de Bahia.
I checked on the websites of the University but could not find anything.
I would like to finish my study and get a degree there.

Hi Giovanna,

This course runs at PUC-Rio (the Catholic University). I did have a look into it myself at one point. From what I remember it lasts two years. As far as I know the UFRJ (Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro) doesn't offer an interpreting course.

Hi Giovanna,
the "DBB Curso de Especialização de Tradutores" (http://www.dbb.com.br/) is another possibility in Rio de Janeiro. It´s not an University, but its certificate is officially recognized even by ATA. I attended it's course some years ago and I liked it.
Now they offer an on line course, too.
I hope it can be useful.

I came across this site which could be of use:

I do not know many of the courses, except Alumni which is good but strongly American-based. The best English School here is Cultura Inglesa, if they run a translation course it would be excellent.

Correcting my previous posting, UNIBERO *is* in fact in the Abrates listing - I had not seen the "Universities" section.

It is definitely the best in the country, as far as I am aware.
