Prerequisites for freelance translators in the UK

Hello!



When getting established as freelance translator in the UK, are there any requirements with repect to degree, qualifications? Compulsory membership in a professional association?

Nothing is compulsory ... Feb 17, 2003

There are no compulsory requirements in the UK, apart from registering with the local tax authorities! Qualifications, accreditation, experience, memberships can all help, but it is possible to do it without them

Hi

I myself am a Freelance Translator based in the UK and have been working for the last 3 years.

But it is very rare for potential clients to trust me with jobs because of my lack of qualification.

I am working on it.

And I think you should too if you are serious about being a Freelance Translator.
