Rates for a very small translation project

Hello Everybody!



I would like to know the approximate rate PER WORD for a very small translation project(about 50 words).The subject is politics.

Flat fee May 7, 2002

I charge a flat fee, especially when someone who is not a regular client calls and wants a short translation. Fifty words can take as long as 100 words if the text is technical.

Minimum rate May 7, 2002

All freelance translators should have a minimum rate that covers the translation of texts less than the amount of words that is profitable as well as the overhead (administration - processing the job, invoicing, etc.). My minimum rate applies to texts 200 words and less.

I agree with Erika: every translator should charge a minimum fee. I am always surprised to see that there are still many colleagues who, repeatedly, shoot themselves in the foot.



Translating 100 words, for example, can be very time-consuming (sometimes, the formatting can be more complex than the actual translation).



The same should apply to test translations: no more than 200-250 words, but paid for at a minimum flat rate.
