Am I crazy or would someone actually be willing to do all this work in one day for only $225.00??
There has got to be a fine line between low, competetive rates and sheer insanity. This is getting ridiculous - I was earning triple this amount eleven years ago. Soon we will be paying them for the "privledge" of translating.

Bidders must live in: United States
I have a little under 7,500 words of German text [content is somewhat technical and contract language]that I need translated into English. I have the document as an efax document. I would need this translation back by tomorrow Tues. Feb.11 before noon at the latest. It is a tight deadline but I know there are people out there who can do this. The rate is $0.03- 0.04 per target word.

Pricing:

0.03 USD per word"

insane translators too? Feb 10, 2003

I was equally horrified to see the job description and the rate offered, but when I saw it there were already 2 bids. So someone out there must indeed be desperate. You can\'t help but wonder about the quality, though...

Don't jump to conclusions Feb 10, 2003

The mere presence of bids does not mean that these members actually bid at the price indication provided by the outsourcer.

I hope they get a pile of bids to sort through, with none being anywhere near that low rate.

For tomorrow noon at the latest?? What happenend to the rush premium (should be 25-50%)!

This one is outside my lang pairs but we get them too, of course. I always bid if I want the job, but always at my own rate. If they can\'t find someone to do the job, maybe they\'ll wake up.

As a colleague has pointed out, the least that will happen is they will have one more e-mail to
