For once, I agree with your sentiment.

Shouldn't that be
"...the language what they have been wrote in" ?
Mind you, George's website offers a rich variety of bloopers. What about "We can carry out proofreading for both the French and German language." ?
Surely that should be "We can carry out proofreading for both the French and German language, innit". ?

It's only because Google knows it's you doing the search.
You won't be on anyone else's front page.
Go into "private browsing" and try it again.
If, against expectations, you're still on the first page, you're clearly wasting yourself on translation - as I think you already know - and could usefully embark immediately on a new career in SEO.
so no new career for George ...
Also, SEO having been done by other people, no prizes for guessing that these same people would do it again for the next one wanting some useless exposure [as per Angela Dickson's post], and then again for the next one, and then ...
Can't see any method in ...

First of all, when you tell someone to google something, the rightful assumption is to use google.com. However, on google.com George's website is only on page 11, way down in the gutter.
But knowing that George is in the UK, next I tried google.co.uk and George's website appeared on page 1 at the very bottom.

However, that's no surprise at all, because anyone, who enters their website's name as the search term, will see it in the search results on page 1. This has nothing to do with traffic. It just means that your website has been indexed by Google, in this case by google.co.uk, BUT for all other keywords you're way below underground, at the millionth place in line behind others. So the only reason, why you come up on the first page, is that you typed in your own website's address (URL) directly, so of course, you'll be on page 1, but it's meaningless, because it only proves that you exist, nothing more. No traffic at all, nothing!
So he's just playing you guys, who didn't know this about SEO/web design.
1. His website's address (URL) is:
georgetrailtranslator.co.uk
2. Then he put this in his tag:
Translator UK | Translation Services UK - George Trail Translations
3. And he mentions the search term "Translator UK" a few times on his main/front page.
But out of all these it's the first one that did the trick. He's asking us to use the search terms "Translator UK", which is then echoed in his website's address "georgetrailtranslator.co.uk". That's how he ended up on page one, but at the bottom, because his web address contains more words.
Now had he made us search for "George Trail Translator UK", he would have come up not only on page 1, but in first place, as the first search result. But only, because he was searching for his own domain name (web address) for God's sake! So he was searching for himself! That's NOTHING!
Your domain name is the most important thing or rather the first thing that search engines look at, because they register your website by them, by those domain names. But it means nothing, because all, it means, is that Google's robot has crawled your domain name and indexed it, like it does with zillion other websites of equally low significance. So Google automatically registered you, but your ranking is somewhere around the epicenter of this Earth, 3 storeys below the dinosaurs!
SO PLEASE, DON'T FALL FOR IT!!!
He's just craving some attention for no real achievement here. He just wants to be admired for nothing. ▲ Collapse | | | And, once again: | Aug 21, 2017 |
No sign of George.
Is he reading this? Does he care? Oh, the mystery! | | | Disappointing, Tom... | Aug 21, 2017 |
